June 25th, 2004 HBHS Class of 1964 Reunion "Returning to Hokes Bluff & The Coosa" The reunion was a great success. 25 classmates, 23 spouses and six faculty attended. Folks were so happy to see each other. Everyone had positive comments about our reunion. All went well. The program, the food, the decorations, the photo's, the displays, and the walk through the school down memory lane was all most enjoyable. Our many thanks to Shirley for her inspiration to have this reunion and for all those who helped make it possible. During the program certain criteria was chosen for all classmates to participate in a questionnaire. The results are as follows; Who came or drove the most distance? ( AC McCullers - 135 miles ) Who had the most natural born kids? ( Ava, Nancy & Shirley all had 4 ) Who had the most children and step children? ( Nancy ) Who had the most Grand Children ( Nancy 14 ) Who had the oldest child? ( Nancy age 45 ) Who had the youngest child? ( Wayne age 12 ) Who was the most changed male? ( Penny ) Who was the most changed female? ( Bonnie Sue ) Who was the least changed male? ( Melvin ) Who was the least changed female? ( Peggy ) An after reunion get together was held at Shoney's in E.Gadsden and the following persons attended: Shirley, Benny ( Slade and Benny's Grand-daughter joined him), Don & Lisa (their son Matt came by for a few minutes), James & Allegra, Nona and Grover, Edward and Sandra, Randy & Ava, and Melvin & Debbie. We enjoyed a buffet breakfast and discussed the things we liked and didn't like about the reunion. I think we all liked everything because everything went so well. We did make suggestions for upcoming reunions. Our next official get together as a Class will be held at the home of Benny Miller on June 25th, 2005. Sometime in the future, a gathering will be held at the home of Nona & Grover in Calhoun, Georgia ( date not yet determined - Don is working on this. ) Shirley will be sending out a letter ( when completed ) indicating the upcoming events and gathering details. While at this gathering, Melvin made the statement that he partially resigned from doing so much at the reunion. He stated that at the next reunion he wanted to relax and enjoy everyone's company and not have a working or speaking part during the reunion. Melvin will maintain and keep the web page updated with reunion information as long as he is alive. Shirley, James, Lisa, Don, Debbie and Melvin meet at the Top of the River Restaurant on Saturday, July 10th to review and pick out the best photo's to be reproduced. The best ones for an 8x10 and a 5x7 were selected and will be reproduced. In addition, once all the reunion digital photo's taken are compiled they will be burnt onto a video CD, Both the pictures and the CD will be mailed to out of town classmates and those living locally, will be notified of a pickup time and place. Several folks took cameras and many photographs were taken. If you have a pic that is good in quality and don't mind sharing it, please e-mail or regular mail it to Melvin and it will be posted on the internet. If you send it by mail, it will likewise be returned. Our main interest is the group photo of classmates and of spouses. All the photo's including those taken by classmates have been posted below.
