Everyone had a really great time along. Everyone showed up who told Shirley they would come except Nelda and we haven't heard from her to know what happened. We had eleven classmates attend and one classmate who did not attend the 2004 reunion. Maelene Stephenson who lives in Southside joined us at this gathering. It was a joy to see her along with the rest of the classmates. Dianne had apparently got the word from other classmates that Melvin liked to check out all the desserts prior to the meal so he was not allowed to ramble in the kitchen for long without supervision. As a result, we got the hint and went outside. Since some classmates arrived at different times, we got a late start on the grill. Larry & Diane arrived late due to him having to gather the hay crop while the weather is dry. When Larry & Diane drove up she hand in her hands a large container of brown and white fudge. By the time Diane got inside with the fudge container, it was half empty and thus we all survived the extra few minutes waiting for the meal. Benny did an outstanding job with the burgers and dogs - they tasted great and were cooked to perfection. Several of the girls brought something sweet to eat and Peggy did it again - with her famous fried apple pies - yum, yum, good. We had a buffet line in the kitchen and everyone ate either in the house, on the deck or at a table in the back yard. The view from the back deck or back yard is just awesome. They live right on the river in such a beautiful, peaceful and quiet neighborhood. The Chief Photographer, Sherrill Morris got everyone together just prior to the meal and took several group photo's - thus we offer our thanks for his expertise in capturing forever this moment in time at our 2005 Cookout Reunion. It seemed like anyone wanted to stay and talk as it was well after 8pm before folks started to leave. As we ate dinner, several classmates discussed that the next time we have an annual get together that we have it in the fall during football season. Shirley and Don are working on putting together the next meeting and when firm plans are made, they will be posted on the web site for your information.
